Can intelligence be stronger then muscle? In the books Maus and Maus 2 written by Art Speiglemen is a book about the holocaust from a survivors perspective. The survivor was his dad so it was was to get the interview in. If you don't know what the holocaust was, it was when German leader Adolph Hitler got an army of Germans, and basically killed all Jews, and they couldn't fight back. Anyway, not many Jewish people survived, out of the whole population of 9 million jews, 6 million were killed. That's not a lot of people left. Art's dad{Vladek} has a tough time telling this story as you could imagine. This was a very traumatic time in his life and probably doesn't even want to think about it. I think from this book the reader can learn is that intelligence can bring you advantages in life. Vladek used his intelligence, and that's how he survived the Holocaust.
Vladek was a very intelligent man, he used all he knew to survive in the Holocaust. One way he used his intelligence was the fact that he knew English saved him. A nazi guard needed help with English, and since Vladek was fluent he got to work for him. This guard was very nice to Vladek, he gave him new clothes and food, and also secrets so he wouldn't be caught by the Nazi's. For example the guard told Vladek to stand as far on the left as possible because the Nazi's were starting from the right of the line. Without this guard giving him food and new clothes, and especially tips to survive, Vladek wouldn't have survived for long. That is one way how his intelligence helped him survive. Another way was on the train out of 200 people, 25 survived including Vladek he definitely used his smarts on this trip. He brought a blanket that the nazi guard gave him to keep him warm and lots of people on the train died of freezing to death. He also used a tactic that no one else thought about, he would eat the snow then sugar because it would burn but since the snow was really cold it balanced off. One more way on how Vladek's intelligence helped him survived was to get food from the line. In order to get food, your clothes couldn't have lice in them. It was almost impossible because there was lice everywhere. So when he got the extra clothes from the guard they were clean, so he put them in a bag and washed them everyday, and never wore them. He would only put them on when it was time to get food. He found a loophole because those clothes never had lice on them. These are some ways Vladek used his intelligence to survive the Holocaust.
In conclusion Vladek used his surroundings a lot to survive, and without them, I don't think he would survive that long. his intelligence gave him food, prevented from being beat, made friends that helped him survive. This is why I think intelligence gives you privileges, for example in school if you do good you are destined for a good future. Also meaning not getting into drugs or anything like that. in conclusion metaphorically you could say intelligence are stronger then your muscles.
